shift.

Chinese New Year is spent the same way every year.

In Ipoh.

Eating.

When I was younger, I loved going to Ipoh. Cause my grandparents would always take me out to the bookshop and then for ice-cream. What better combination could there be right?

But now it's the other way round. In KL I get to go out a lot. Ipoh is mostly family time. I suppose I could go out but I'm kinda lazy to answer any questions that might pop up. And the weather there is soooooo hot. All I wanna do is sit under the fan/air-cond and read my book.

And so marks the end of my holiday.

Starting uni tomorrow =(.

4D.

Guess what???

I'm DONE with exams!!!!!!

Haha.

Anyways, went to watch a movie with Caroline, Marcia, Pam and Kim. Movie we watched? The Karate Kid.

Now, I went in without much expectations as I thought the original Karate Kid was quite good and didn't really see how a remake would do it any justice.

I wouldn't say the movie was fantastic, but it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. I must say that Jaden Smith did a pretty good job but Jackie Chan soooo did not suit the role. The basic plot is exactly the same as the original movie except that it's in China. Also the main characters are wayy too young. I mean, who's going to start a fight over a girl when they're 12? There was also this scene where some of us were like nooooo don't do it! Cause Jaden Smith is too young to be kissing a girl.

Overall I say it's a movie worth watching even if you've watched the original Karate Kid.

Most of us know the meaning of "Wax on, wax off" right?

The new generation will now know it as "Jacket on, jacket off". Not as catchy =(.

Off to Singapore tomorrow =). What else but for the Great Singapore Sale!

trade.

You can lead a horse to the water, but you can't make it drink.

Instead, by trying to make it drink you'd probably just make it drown.

Do you think people who succeed in their careers do so because they like what they're doing or because their parents think it's the most 'suitable' one for them?

retreat.

You know why those who go overseas at an earlier age usually do better in their studies?

No, it's not because they've learned to mature and take responsibility. It's mainly cause their parents aren't there.

How is that possible you ask? After all, most need parents to give them the push to actually study.

Read on and you'll understand.

How many of you have been forced to go out with your family before an exam. Despite you telling your parents that you want to stay at home to study, they tell you that you should take a break cause studying all the time isn't good. For most of us I'd believe, we get these moods where we're really gung ho about studying and parents interrupting is the one thing that can cause you to lose the studying drive.

On the other hand, you're done with studying and want to go out and have a nice dinner with your friends. What do your parents say about this? "Don't waste time, you should be studying". The irony is that if you hadn't gone out with your friends, your parents would have made you go out for dinner with the family. So ultimately your time is spent on something you didn't really want to just because your parents think that friends are not as important as family.

Just my opinion.

cold.

You know, I never used to feel like this.

But now, I think my patience is wearing thin.

And I'm looking for any excuse to be anywhere but here.

getting past it.

Got back from Ipoh this afternoon. And the surprising thing is that there practically wasn't any traffic on the way there or back!

Chinese New Year this year was no different from the rest of the years.

The usual Tuan Yuan Fan on Sunday. Monday was visiting followed by dinner at Wah Chai. And then Tuesday is the party.

Every year it's the same thing. Eat, sleep, collect ang pow and help my grandmother.

But then I shouldn't be complaining.

After all if everything goes according to plan, this is probably my second last new year in Ipoh seeing as A-levels finishes next June/July and hopefully I'll be off to UK in September. So obviously then I won't be able to come back for CNY.

A funny story to tell.

Me and my mum went out to try and get marshmallows cause we were having a barbeque during the party. 7-11 didn't have so we tried another convenience store and my mum asked "Do you have any marshmallows?" and you know what the woman said?

"Mashed Milo? Sorry don't have but we do have Milo."

Hahahahahahaha. I swear I laughed so hard.

Another strange thing, all the time I was in Ipoh I couldn't help but think "I should have brought my laptop so that I can write my analysis and article." Isn't that strange? I used to love going to Ipoh as I wouldn't need to think about any work but now I can't help but think of work.

burning candle.

Sheesh. I hate it when people take offence at the slightest thing.

All I said was that it would be better for me to follow the transport instead of you taking me there considering you don't even know where the freaking place is.

P.S There are only two people that I would get pissed off at. So it's obvious who I'm talking about.

can't give up.

Just got back from Ipoh.

It seems to me that I spend less and less time there every year for Christmas. I used to go back once school holidays started and only go back after Christamas. Then as years went on I'd go there a week before Christmas. But now, go on Christmas Eve and then come home on Christmas morning.

Every year my grandmother will set up the Christmas tree and I used to help her decorate it. But now she doesn't want to do it anymore cause obviously she's getting old. Then my uncle said that she'd stop putting up the Christmas tree when I get taller than it.

HAHA. I told him that she'd have to put it up forever then. Seeing as I don't think I'm going to grow much more.

Anyway,

for Mamma Mia. It was good but I thought the movie was better.

I mean, how can you beat the movie when they have Meryl Streep AND Pierce Brosnan in it??? But the guy who played Sky in the musical was better looking. Also, the guy who played Harry Bright looked VERY similar to Colin Firth who plays Harry in the movie.

Overall it was pretty good but the only thing that spoilt the night was that it was at Istana Budaya. Like seriously, the parking there is HORRIBLE!!!! We had to park so far and walk to the place. The place is supposed to be a cultural centre but they have horrible planning. Don't they ever think of the women who'd be all dressed up and in heels?? They don't even have a valet service. So if you're planning to go to Istana Budaya for a show and need to park, DO NOT wear heels.

you're my disease.

Nothing eventful today. Spent most of the time catching up on lost sleep and playing games online.

And guess what!!!

My braces are coming off soon. Like in a week's time. Tuesday morning. Just cause I wanna be braces-less for prom. I mean, I don't to be remembered with my braces on.

No updates for the next couple of days. Going to Macau and Hong Kong with the family tomorrow. Only getting back on Thursay night. Hence why I'm not going for the class trip at Genting. Which I so wanted to!!!! Oh well.....

As compensation I'm going shopping in Hong Kong!!

i can be the one.

I'm so freaking tired now. So excuse me if this post is bad.
But I wanna blog about today before I forget stuff.

So Jia Lik and Amanda stayed over last night as we were going to Bangsar today to go dress shopping. Mum dropped us off at Trixie's and her mum in turn dropped us at Bangsar. Had breakfast at Bodega and walked around Bangsar Village II as most of the boutiques don't open till 12. Didn't really find anything as most were too pricey and we wouldn't be able to buy anything without our mothers.

After Aleena met up with us we walked. A lot. To so many boutiques that I cannot remember them in order or even remember how many we walked into. And I tell you that after walking into so many it was difficult to find a prom worthy dress. In the end everyone got a dress save for Trixie. But she did get a dress at Plaza Damas when she went there with her mum. I swear, I've never tried on so many dresses in my life. I never really expected to buy a dress today seeing as I'm going to Hong Kong so was planning to get a dress there. But the dress that the rest asked me to try was pretty nice and cheap and long. Despite it being long, I didn't look like a midget. I do think I'll have to alter it cause I don't wanna wear really high heels. But I still think I'll go dress hunting in HK just in case I don't wanna wear the one I have.

Trixie has highlights now!!! Red ones. Looks nice on her.

Anyway, after that went with sisters and mum to 1U as Roxy had a 50% off ALL items from 5p.m. till 10p.m. For members only. There were so many people there. And the thing is that the line was really long at the cashier. So guess what? I had to stand there for an hour to pay for the stuff cause sisters had class so mum had to leave to send them. The thing is that I didn't even buy a single thing from there yet I had to waste an hour on my feet for the stuff that the others were getting. The sacrifices I make.....haha.

I was actually going to type a much longer post. But I'm so tired I'm going to sleep now.

left for you and me.

This morning while I was having breakfast, my grandparents were discussing their medicine. And let me tell you, it was one of the weirdest conversations ever. They were like comparing which medicine was better, whether it's cheaper to get it from a doctor or from the pharmacy.

So this got me thinking, that at some points of our lives, the topics that we talk about change with age. While you may thinking OBVIOUSLY, what a 6 year old and a 16 year old talk about are completely different. What I mean is that there is this invisible line in our head that seperates what we think about at different stages.

For example:

0-7 years: Make lots of noise that make absolutely no sense to anyone. Yell about how interesting the most mundane things are. Basically act like you've lived a rock under your entire life and be fascinated by anything.

7-12 years: Talk about school. And how you hate this or that teacher. Discuss how much you hate this boy/girl who always teases you. Oh, also talk about childish games and computer games.

13-14 years: Eveything that you say must be filled with angst. The world hates you, you hate the world blah blah blah.

15-18 years: Talk about the guy/girl you like. Swoon over hot celebrities you wished you knew. Discuss how unfair you parents are as they never let you out/never let you drink/never let you do anything. Basically a toned down version of how you were from 13-14.

19-25 years: Uni life. Enjoy freedom from parents by talking with friends about where to party and what next to spend money one like holidays and unnecessary gadgets.

26-30 years: Complain about how you'll never find someone to marry. When finally married gush about how married is everything you dreamed.

31-40 years: Talk about how to take care of kids. Compare salary/house/car.

41-49 years: Tell people about how your spouse annoys the hell out of you. How your kids are driving you up the wall. Discuss politics and economics.

49-55 years: Talk about how your job is so stressful and you can't wait for retirement. Discuss how much your kid's uni is costing with other friends.

56-60 years: From now on it's all about how well your kids are doing. Brag about your kids and their wonderful career.

61-80 years: Like my grandparents, discuss health care. Latest pills, vitamins and whatever else there is to discuss about how to live longer.

81 years onwards: The past and nothing but the past.

Just my opinion. Feel free to leave you opinions on the tagbox.

nobody believes me.

Just got back from dinner at this little Indian restaurant. The food there was good.

Usually the only place I eat Indian food is at Saffron, this restaurant at Sri Hartamas where there have this fluffy naan like thing called bhatura. So apparently my dad took his friend there for lunch one day and the friend said that he knew of another restaurant that had better food.

Went there to try it today. And the food is way BETTER than Saffron's. The restaurant is called Jassala and it's at Brickfields. You bascially have to park at KL Sentral and cross the road to get to the restaurant. I felt so fair there seeing as we were the only Chinese people in the place. Like everytime people walked into the restaurant, they would give us this look. The 'Why are there Chinese people here?' look.

Anyway, I'd totally recommend the restaurant if you like Indian food. I loved their mutton curry and this chicken kebab thing.

if I could only.

Trials are now over!!!

Well, not officially. Still have EST paper 2 tomorrow.

Going out to watch movies. Wow, it's been like so freaking long since I've watched a movie in a cinema.

And I've just finished watching the new episode of Gossip Girl!!! So glad that Blair and Serena have made up. I felt so sad for Blair since the beginning of the season. It was like season 2 is pick on Blair season.

On another note, I've realized that 90% of the time me and my family can't walk out of a bookshop without buying something. It's like the books are yelling 'Buy me! Buy me!'. Hence why we have so many books at home. One day I'me totally going to sit down and wrap all the books so that 10 years down the road I can still read my favourite books which should be in perfect condition.

Anyone want to recommend books to me?

Books that are similar to anything by Jeffrey Archer and Rohinton Mistry are very much welcome. Good chick lit also okay. Psychological thrillers are good too if the ending is the unexpected super twisted kind.

tracing faces.

After church, went to Mandarin Oriental for breakfast with my two aunties and grand aunty. One aunty is working in London, the other doing her internship for medicine in Australia so I don't get to see them as much anymore. They're still 20+ so it's nice hanging out with them when they come back.

If you go to Mandarin Oriental for dim sum, DO try their 'char siu soh' and fried custard bun thing. very yummy!! And you know a few posts back I posted up the medical student specialist route thing, it is quite true according to my aunty. So if you want to pick a medical field look at the chart!

And I heard this SUPER lame but funny joke.

One day, 'char siu pau' and 'man tou' went to watch a movie. So right, the movie was really sad and 'char siu pau' cried a lot during the movie. But 'man tou' didn't. Why?

*Hightlight below to see the answer*

Because 'man tou' has no feelings(filling).

Funny right? There's a follow up joke but I think I'll leave that to the next post. Cause you need to get the first one before I can tell you the follow up one.

fine, fine line.

You know what I hate most??

People who think that the entire world revolves around them and that everyone should bow down and kiss their feet.

People who think that their lives are more important than everyone elses.

People who love to make jokes and laugh at others and when you make a joke in return they throw a hissy fit.

People who have no respect for people older than them and love to use brute strength to imtimidate and bully others.

People who purposely act a certain to get what they want. And always get it cause everyone thinks that they need attention and that all they do is just a cry for attention when actually that stupid person knows exactly what they're doing to wind people around their finger.

Guess what? One person in my house is all of those rolled into one.
