superheroes.

Just watched this last night and I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would.

Who knew watching an animated film about 'imaginary characters' would be so entertaining?

One thing that was important in the film was the concept of believing. Believing and having faith that somewhere out there were characters who would bring joy and wonder to all the little children in the world. That to children it was what keeps them childlike.

And that left me wondering, when do we grow up?

When is it that we realise that the world isn't all about sweet dreams and presents and fun? When do we give up on our dreams in pursuit of more 'practical' paths?

I am pretty sure that there are little to no children out there who when asked "What do you wanna be when you grow up?" will answer with investment banker or accountant. These are jobs that have been created over time because someone decided that it'd be a great way to overcharge people for services that they could carry out themselves.

When I was a kid, I used to have this book called "I want to be the President" I think. At one point in my life I would actually say that I wanted to grow up to be the President. Then as I grew up I thought it was impossible cause I wasn't American and also cause I was a girl. For some reason there was just this stigma that women couldn't be in roles of leadership cause it was meant to be the man's job.

While I'm pretty certain I wouldn't actually have wanted to be the President when I grew older, that is an example of how dreams of a child can be crushed so easily due to society's 'rules'. 'Rules' that say money is more important than being happy, that your reputation is more important than being honest to yourself.

residence.

During exam time as a way of destressing I like to watch shows or movies that require little to no brain power. Haha. The more bimbotic the better I would say.

Usually my go to show is Jersey Shore. Judge me if you will but each episode is just forty minutes of entertaining drama where I don't need to think at all. But seeing as I've already watched all available episodes, I had to find something new.

So I turned to Sex and the City. The movie. Ended up watching the sequel as well.

Needless to say, I loved both of it. Yes the sequel had the worst storyline ever. But the clothes more than made up for it. Oh to have such a glamorous wardrobe.

Back to the point of this post.

I think Carrie Bradshaw at the end of the movie is exactly where I could only hope to be.

Watching a black and white movie with the man she loves.
In a marriage where they both agree not to have kids.
Making a living from writing.
With a close knit group of friends.

What dreams.

十个男人九个坏还有一个想作怪

Haha.

For those who don't read mandarin. It means.

Out of 10 men, 9 are bad. And 1 is thinking of stirring up trouble.

Conclusion?

Wait for No. 11.

camera.

Just finished watching

Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac.

I quite liked it. It's about this girl who loses her memory of the past four years. And so since it's a love story the main focus is about her trying to remember who she loves. Pretty predictable but it's easy to watch and really sweet at some points.

You know you've been watching too many Japanese shows when you recognise the three main characters from other plaes. Kenichi Matsuyama being L from Death Note. Maki Horikita is Chisato from Atashinchi no Danshi. And finally Yuya Tegoshi is from the boygroup NEWS. Haha. But I'm going off track.

The movie shows how since the main character forgot the past four years, it is up to the people around her to remind her of who she is. What she used to like, who she used to like and all that. But if this happened in real life, there would be almost no need to take the words of others. Maybe not applicable to everyone. But if let's say I lost my memory, all I'd have to do is read by blog. Or go through Facebook a little.

And then tadahhh! The past is all so nicely documented for me.

What would we do without the Internet =).

pseudo.

The Japanese are seriously a strange bunch of people.

It's like "How exactly do their minds work?".

First they come up with movies like "Strange Circus".

Even the poster creeps me out.

Can't exactly tell you what it's about. But if you thought Inception played with your mind, you have not watched Strange Circus. Not only does it play mind tricks, it has loads of other elements that make it a bit difficult to watch. You definitely need a strong stomach for it. Nonetheless, it was a pretty good movie.

Next they come up with something called the "Menstruation Machine".

So for all the guys who don't understand why girls whine about the pain and uncomfortableness of having their period, this is for you.

It basically simulates a typical 5 day cycle. With all the blood and cramps. While it may not compare to actually having your period, I'd say it'd at least give guys a good gauge of what we have to go through.

queen.

Black Swan starring Natalie Portman.

This movie combined the two things I love watching.

Dance? Check.

Psychological twists? Check.

Definitely recommend watching it.

Though after watching it, you'd wonder how much is perfection worth?

octopus.

I just watched like the CUTEST movie ever!!

Title of the movie is "Paper Heart". Filmed in a documentary style, it' s about this girl who is making a documentary about love. Why is she doing so? Because she wants to know more about it since she doesn't believe in love.

I liked that a lot of the 'couples' that she 'interviewed' were quite old already. So it felt like they actually knew what they were talking about based on experience. The couple that got married when they were 17 was so adorable =D.

Oh! Did I mention Michael Cera plays one of the main characters. Granted his roles in movies are pretty much the same all the time, I like him =). Always playing the shy awkward guy (Juno, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist and now Paperheart).

He just looks so perfect for that role no?

smooth.

I just noticed that today's the 11th of November.

Do you know what that means??

It means,

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

in ONE WEEK'S time!!!! =D

Can't waitttttt!!

Haha. Unfortunately, I'll be in Bangkok. So will only get to watch it when I get back to Malaysia =(.

Oh well. Time to re-read all my Harry Potter books now.
Yes. Before each movie I re-read all the books. From the Philosopher's Stone up till the movie. So in this case till the very end.

purity.

This is ANNOYING the hell out of me.

There's this movie that I want to know the title of. So if anyone can tell me that, I will be FOREVER grateful. Seriously.

It's about this boy who uses a time machine to look for his father in the future. When he does get to the future he finds out that humans have evolved into two entirely different species. One type live above ground where they're always carefree and happy and have telekinetic powers(which they use to start a food fight =P). The other type live underground and only come up at night.

The ones above ground have to sacrifice some of themselves every month to those underground in exchange for food and clothes. Turns out the underground people use them as power sources. Boy finds his father trapped underground and manages to save him. Oh, and the boy sort of falls in love with an above ground girl.

That's about it. Should be enough to trigger off your memory if you've watched it.

The reason I suddenly thought of this is I'm reading H.G Well's The Time Machine. And it seems that this cartoon movie is directly inspired by the book. In my opinion at least.

leaf.

Watched Eclipse yesterday.

It was SUPER amusing. Like seriously, definitely the most entertaining out of the three Twilight films. Or maybe it's just the people I watched it with =). There were quite a number of moments where it was just the three of us (Trixie, Pui Yi and me) laughing. People must have thought we were so weird.

And even though I've read the book, it was such a cringe worthy moment to see Bella and Jacob kiss. Nice that the movie felt complete and that you don't need to read the book to be able to enjoy it.

One moment during the movie worth mentioning...not in particular for the scene but for what happened in the cinema.

The scene where Bella is with Edward in the house and she asks him to take their relationship to the 'next level' ahem ahem. When we watched it, guess what happened? The film burned. Yes, that's right. So there was a minor disruption. Haha. It was really funny that a lot of people in the cinema laughed. Clearly, the scene was too 'hot' to be shown =P.

P.S I can't believe I'm going for Jog for Hope tomorrow. I'm the most unathletic person in the WORLD.

buttercup.

Went out with Jia Lik and Amanda to Sunway Pyramid today.

Watched Toy Story 3!!!!

It really is such a good movie. And while it's meant for kids, I would say more likely it's meant for the kids who watch Toy Story 1 & 2 so many years ago.

Some stuff in the movie is not so typical of children's movies cause I feel that the themes would be more understandable to those who are older.

The part about how Lotso turns into a dominating bitter bear just cause Daisy abandoned him and how he decides that since he can't be happy no one else can. The part where Barbie goes all scary on Ken or when she seems to intelligent when she talks about how Lotso is wrong in doing things. Spanish Buzz who gets jealous of how Jessie hugs Woody =P.

Haha. These are just some of the moments where I felt that kids wouldn't really get.

But yes it is definitely a must watch movie.

And prepare to cry or at least tear during the movie. At least once.

4D.

Guess what???

I'm DONE with exams!!!!!!

Haha.

Anyways, went to watch a movie with Caroline, Marcia, Pam and Kim. Movie we watched? The Karate Kid.

Now, I went in without much expectations as I thought the original Karate Kid was quite good and didn't really see how a remake would do it any justice.

I wouldn't say the movie was fantastic, but it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. I must say that Jaden Smith did a pretty good job but Jackie Chan soooo did not suit the role. The basic plot is exactly the same as the original movie except that it's in China. Also the main characters are wayy too young. I mean, who's going to start a fight over a girl when they're 12? There was also this scene where some of us were like nooooo don't do it! Cause Jaden Smith is too young to be kissing a girl.

Overall I say it's a movie worth watching even if you've watched the original Karate Kid.

Most of us know the meaning of "Wax on, wax off" right?

The new generation will now know it as "Jacket on, jacket off". Not as catchy =(.

Off to Singapore tomorrow =). What else but for the Great Singapore Sale!

sulfide.

Throughout history, only three movies have ever won all five major Academy Awards.

The five major awards are Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Picture as well as Best Screenplay(Adapted).

So clearly, the three movies that managed such a feat must be really good no?

Well, I have watched two of them and I must say they deserved the awards.

The Silence of the Lambs.

I just love Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of Hannibal Lecter. Despite the fact that Dr. Lecter is some sociopath who likes to eat people, I must say he is really intelligent. That although he's stuck in a cell, it's like he still knows everything.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Really quite a funny movie. But the ending...
Sigh. You must watch it to get what I'm talking about.

The one movie left for me to watch is It Happened One Night. Strange how two of the three movies are sort of psychology related. And the other is a romantic comedy. Looks like action movies will never be great movies =P.

And only old movies achieved such things. Don't you realise that all the movies were made before 2000? The latest being 'The Silence of the Lambs" in 1991. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was released in 1975 and "It Happened One Night" being the oldest was released in 1934. Makes you wonder what on earth happened to the quality of the newer movies.

restless.

Decided to share my top 3 favourite movies. Mind you, they're my favourite movies but they may not be the best movies I've watched.

These are the three movies that I don't mind watching again and again. In fact, I think I've watched Center Stage more than 5 times.

As to why they're my favourite movies, well, I guess you'll have to watch them and find a connection =).

1. Center Stage.

2. Dead Poet's Society.

3. I Not Stupid Too.

run.

I swear the Japanese come up with some of the most twisted plots ever.

Yesterday, I watched the movie Battle Royale. Maybe not all of you would want to watch it if you hear the summary, but I do recommend it. I'm not one for action movies, so I'd say for the movie to capture my attention for 2 whole hours, it must be pretty good.

The basic plot of the movie is that one class of students are placed onto a deserted island where they must fight for their lives as ultimately, only one of them can be left standing.

So, I wonder, what would you do?

Would you just resign yourself to be killed by the others? Fight only those who try to kill you? Try to win by killing everyone else? Or decide not to play the game and kill yourself first?

It's interesting how the movie managed to show the different reactions people have to such a situation.

sajna.

Had lunch today at Chili's, 1U with Caroline, Marcia, Kim, Pam, Lisa, Jun Kit, Sean, Daniel, Ee Tzen and Leon.

I had a pretty entertaining time.

After that Jun Kit&Marcia went against Daniel&Lisa in a game of pool. And I swear the most popular phrase mentioned during the two games was "No pressure". Haha. Don't you think that just gives people more pressure?

Anyways, watched Couples Retreat with Marcia and Caroline. The movie was not bad. Definitely better than I expected. I thought it'd be a lot of slapstick comedy, but I must say there were quite a number of awww inducing moments. Which of course only applied to me and Marcia while we had Caroline giving us a weird look and saying "You two ah."

So yeah, it was a good day.

P.S Thanks for the present people =). There is much "sentimental" value there =P.

coach.

Watched New Moon last night.

It was, well, better than Twilight at least. Less of Robert Pattinson to see.

Haha.

It was cheesy line after cheesy line after cheesy line. As in the script was SO predictable.

Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable movie. And I think it's a KDU kid thing to have a slightly warped sense of humour cause it seemed to me that we laughed so much during the movie but the rest of the cinema didn't.

I feel so bad for Jacob =(. Bella is evil.

I have a feeling that many people are Team Edward(Cullen) but Team Taylor(Lautner). Seriously, Robert Pattinson is such a horrible actor and with Taylor Lautner looking the way he does, you can't not feel for him.

chess.

Exams are coming soon but I can't say I regret having spent the last 2 and a half hours watching a movie.

Shawshank Redemption.

Hands down one of the BEST movies I have ever watched.

It's even rated No. 1 on IMDB's Top 250 list.

If it could beat movies like The Godfather, The Dark Knight, Psycho, Fight Club and LOTR (just to name a few). I knew it had to be good.

The script was good. Plot excellent. Characters fantastic. Not to mention that it was so realistic. There was no sudden miracle that made it a happy story, everything in it made perfect sense. It showed the true nature of men. The fear that mankind face, the greed that ultimately destroys them. And most of all, how hope never dies.

I insist everyone watch the movie.
