I'll admit I spend a lot of time in the fiction world.
But no matter how many times I read or watch these type of relationships, I never get bored.
What type of relationships you ask?
The kind where the girl and guy hate each other or at least dislike each other at first, but eventually they fall in love. And the reason they dislike each other at first is always either cause they're too similar and therefore their ambitions overlap (wanting the same position) or because the guy has too huge an ego (playboy) or the guy is so mysterious (girl needs to know everything).
My top 3 from manga/anime, books and shows.
Ayashi No Ceres: Aya and Toya. She the reincarnation of a celestial being, him the assassin hired to kill her.
Black Magicians' Trilogy:Sonea and Akkarin. Her a novice in the magic world, he the powerful high lord who practices the forbidden black magic.
Gossip Girl: Chuck and Blair. He the super bad boy and her the queen.
Fine, I'm gonna add a fourth just cause I love this pair so much in fanfiction.
Harry Potter: Draco and Hermione. Him the playboy and her the know-it-all.
Haha.
I just realised. Akkarin dies at the end of the story, Toya will die soon, Chuck seems to have died and Draco dies in quite a number of the fanfictions I read.
Since the end of my exams, this is the first day I haven't gone out. Haha. That makes me sound so sociable doesn't it??
Well, not really. It's just to make up for all the times I couldn't go out during exams =P.
As for today, I've been spending it watching Star Trek. Which although sounds very nerdy or geeky, is actually a pretty interesting show. No scientific knowledge required =).
I'll admit I've never been a big fan of poetry. I prefer nice lengthy books that describe everything in detail whereas poems just seemed too short and never enough.
But after taking lit for 1.5 years I see that sometimes poems say much more than a passage can. The poet uses just those few words yet they manage to invoke so many different feelings.
Poems just aren't about words on a piece of paper, poems can be read out. And I like this way of looking at poetry. Yet, honestly, tell me how many people you know would attend a poetry recital. I'm sure many years ago it was more common, like in the movie "Dead Poet's Society".
However, doesn't mean it's dead now right?
There's this show called "Def Poetry". And basically it's a poetry recital but these people don't recite the old poems that we would have heard of before like Shakespeare's sonnets. Nope, these people recite their own original poetry.
Some of them are really good but here's one I really like.
I think Koreans come up with the most entertaining reality shows. Okay, maybe it only for die hard romantics.
One that I've watched is "We Got Married". Basically two celebrities are paired up as a 'married couple' for the duration of the show. Watched the Ssangchu couple (Kim Hyun Joong & Hwang Bo) and a bit of Anbi (Andy & Solbi) couple. It's just so funny!!! Yet super duper sweet and to some cheesy at times. But I love it. It's like watching a drama but more real. Even though I'm pretty sure parts of the show are scripted, everything seems natural.
I even read somewhere that the Anbi couple pulled out quite early on cause it was getting to real for them. As in they were actually falling in love with each other. Awwww.
Another one is Mnet scandal. In this show, a celebrity guy will date a non-celebrity girl for a week. So far I've watched Nichkhun, Lee Hong Ki and Choi Jong Hon.
After watching those three, I do think that for some reason guys like to date older women. Nichkhun's first girlfriend was 7? years older than him. Lee Hong Ki only dates older women with the largest gap being 7 years. Choi Jong Hon like older women better. A bit strange no?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't most girls looking for their knight?
Whether it's the white knight who is always there for you. Ready to throw everything away just to make you happy. Always there with the handkerchief to dry your tears.
or
The dark knight. Who makes your blood boil cause at times he gets on your nerves. But despite his cold nature, he is different around you and you know that he does love you.
Maybe it's possible to find just one. But let's say you have both in your life.
Yes, both a white knight and a dark knight.
If push comes to shove,
who would you pick?
Haha. Yes people, this is all triggered by Boys Over Flowers. For those who've watched it, besides the whole white and dark thing, what about the true love and soul mate issue? What would your choice be.
Perhaps the solution is to find the grey knight =P.
Hmm, not sure whether people out there know but there's this TV series called Dollhouse.
It's about this organization that produce "Dolls" who are basically normal people who have had their memories wiped so that they can be programmed with a desired personality. So if you wanna hire an assassin then they'll program one for you and so forth. Quite an interesting series.
But that's beside the point.
The point is that I've found out that there is actually a company similar to this series in reality.
In Japan, there's a company called Hagemashi Tai a.k.a I Want to Cheer Up Limited.
You can 'rent' pets which you can take for walks and stuff if you want. About $10 an hour. That's just for pets though. You can also rent people. Cool right? You can rent actors to pretend to be your relative at a wedding or funeral. Or even for single mums who need a father figure for their kids or for young women who wanna experience a 'marriage'. Yup.
Eh, if anyone can download the song 'Sweet sweet sleep' by Ian Ball, please tell me!!!!
So looking for that song but can't seem to find it.
I've just finished watching October Road and I must say it's pretty good.(Thanks Sean for lending it to me! =D).
The storyline may not seem very ground breaking but the script is well written. In my opinion that is. The conversations that the cast has is both funny yet witty at times so that keeps me happy. AND, the soundtrack is nice. Downloaded a couple of nice songs.
However, I'm so disappointed that it was not renewed for a third season. Like there just left season two at such a cliffhanger. Even the 10 minute 'finale' that they filmed to sort of close the story was not satisfactory. I mean, how many issues can you really resolve in ten minutes of screen time?? Argh....I want another season.
And you know, my semester exam is in exacly one months time.
Ah well. Off to do some drawing! Haha. For lit class that is. Ms. Anne gave us homework to draw out the first scene from "A View From The Bridge: by Arthur Miller. Despite being in the arts stream I have absolutely NO artistic talent so it's going to be quite a bit of work to getting the set nicely drawn.
When I was younger I used to be an avid follower of Wah Loi Toi. For those who have Astro you should know that this channel shows a lot of Cantonese series. Every night without fail me and my mother and Weng Yan would watch the 9.30 show. But as time went on I got tired of it so around Std 6 I stopped watching TV series altogether.
Even now I dont really watch TV but I do watch some shows online.
Here are a few I recommend as a MUST WATCH.
A Taiwanese one.
Er Mo Zai Shen Bian(Devil Beside You)
This is hands down the best one I've ever watched and anyone who has watched this will tell you the same. While the story may seem a bit cliched(Bad boy and good girl), it is well worth the watch.
If you want, another good one is Why Why Love. Basically the same cast but different story. The main actor in both, Mike He is so good that apparently when he shoots a sad scene, everyone on set cries too.
Another one is one that most would be following.
Gossip Girl!!
This show is VERY addictive. In my opinion, the only reason many people still watch this is for Chair!!! That's Chuck and Blair to those who don't know. They seriously have the best chemistry and the story they have is just so sad and sweet. Definitely many aww worthy moments.
So yeah, you people out there must watch these two shows.
Was talking about cartoons that we used to watch when we were younger.
We=Jia Lik, Amanda, Adelyne, Ian and Me
Some of my favourite ones.
AAAHH!! Real Monsters.
Little Lulu.
Hey! Arnold. (Hey! Football head!! Haha)
Mummies Alive.
Where in the world is Carmen Sandiago? (Didn't watch this one very much but I loved the computer games!!! My favourite villain when I was younger.)
And then there were the game shows on Nicklelodeon.
Figure it out.
Legends of the hidden temple. (My fav team were the Silver Snakes) I remeber I was quite scared of the tree part where you put your hand in to look for something and if you're unlucky, a temple guard would be the tree and grab you. And there was the shrine of the silver monkey. Some teams were quite dumb and couldn't put the monkey back together.
Double dare. Love the sundae part.
And then there were the cartoons I didn't like.
Ren & Stimpy, Catdog(where does their s*** go??), Rocko's modern life, Cow & Chicken(though I did like 'I Am Weasel'), Rugrats.
They just don't make cartoons like they used to.
P.S The teams for Legends of the hidden temple are Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, Orange Iguanas, Purple Parrots and Silver Snakes. Just in case you couldn't remember.
Totally the wrong time. Not only am I hooked onto Gossip Girl Season 2, now Trixie has me downloading another series.
Privileged. Twenty-three-year-old Megan Smith (Joanna García) (Reba) has a Yale education, a relentlessly positive attitude, and a plan to conquer the world of journalism, despite the fact that she is slaving away at a tabloid rag. Megan's plan is thrown off course when, in one whirlwind day, she gets fired, meets cosmetics mogul Laurel Limoges (Anne Archer, Ghost Whisperer), and becomes the live-in tutor for Laurel’s twin teen granddaughters in the heady Palm Beach, Florida, world of wealth and power. The girls, Rose (Lucy Hale, Bionic Woman) and Sage (Ashley Newbrough, The Best Years), are beautiful, rebellious, and less-than-thrilled with their new tutor, but Megan is determined to win them over as she enjoys the perks of her new job.
Not bad as far as I've seen. Watched episodes 1 and 2. So now in addition to GG, I'll be downloading a new episode of Privileged every week. When there is less than a month to SPM.
On a totally different topic, here are a few things I wish I could buy.
Mirror of Erised from Harry Potter. $69. *Wonder what I would see.*
Wedges from Pucci. $699. *If these were available in Malaysia I'd totally get it!*
Dress from Versace. Price not available. *I love the dresses at 1.54 and 2.25. Love the heart zipper thing.*
So was watching 'TheNanny' just now. You know, the really old TV series where there's a nanny called Fran who has a horribly nasal voice who works for a Broadway producer called Maxwell?
Here's their logo/picture thingy.
Anyway, I always find the show hilarious and love watching it whenever it's on.
There was a moment in the show I watched today where Fran gets proposed to by this French guy. She goes and tells Maxwell that she knew that something was up the moment the French guy started saying "Shut the door! Shut the door!". This is so funny why? Because the French guy was actually saying "J'adore! J'adore!" which basically means "I adore you! I adore you!".
