let me know.

Hmm. Remember a post where I posted up the link of a website called FML?

Well apparently now there are another two websites similar to FML.

For where FML is to lament about all the bad things in one's life,

My Life Is Average ~ MLIA is for the people whose lives seem to go nowhere.

My Life is Great ~ MILG is for the people whose lives are oh so wonderful.

Quite like reading MLIA but not MLIG.

P.S All TAYLOR-IANS!!!

Register for the 30 Hour Famine!!

*CLICK HERE* for more info about what the famine's about.

Just look for me if you wanna register. I promise it'll be an awesome experience =).

been here the whole time.

I am tired and sleepy.

So here's just a brief update.

While most A-levels students were done with their exams on Thursday, the poor Further Maths and Lit students had to come back on Friday for their last paper.

Right. I was sooooo happy after Lit ended. Had lunch at this Japanese restaurant next to the bagel place. Hung around college a little while till Caroline was done. After that it was off to Mid Valley. Watched 17 again. It was pretty good. And I must admit, Zac Efron was freaking hot when he got out of his car with the shades on. I think I have a thing for guys with cool cars and shades. Seeing as the only point in Twilight where I thought Robert Pattinson passed as a remarkably hot Edward Cullen was when he got out of the car with his shades.

Anyways. Shopped a little after that for the stuff I need for my ballet concert. And then went to Borders for a while as Caroline said "NO shopping!". Haha. You need to learn to like shopping more.

The real reason we were in Mid Valley is cause we were throwing a surprise early birthday party for Anthea. She's going off to UK for the holidays so can't celebrate with her on the actual day. Enlisted the help of her boyfriend who was pretty nice and accomadating considering he didn't know us at all.

Following pictures stolen off Pam's facebook =D.

We hid behind pillars so that Anthea wouldn't see us. And the waiters were totally laughing at us. But it was fun =P.

Everyone who came except Pam. She took the picture.

Now Lucas takes the picture. Guess who's the more experienced photographer.

Really cool photoshop like picture taken by Caroline.

After dinner went to mamak with Lucas, Daniel, Marcia and Faiz. As most should know, Faiz has left Taylor's cause his brain's too big. Seriously. Well maybe not. He got a scholarship to go to KYUEM so he's leaving us behind.

I swear I haven't laughed so much in one day so hard for such a long time.

That was yesterday. I spent today at HELP. 30-Hour Famine workshop. Yup, organizing it again this year. And once we get the okay for venue, all you Taylor-ians can start registering.

We're combining with the Subang campus and limiting places for the actualy camp itself. So if you want to go, do register as soon as possible. I'll post up details when everything's finalized.

That's about it. A busy two week holiday ahead. Another internship.

live can be so cruel.

I've just found out that uploading videos onto youtube takes FOREVER.

Anyway,

I've uploaded the videos from the 30 Hour Famine. The ones of the different groups doing their group cheer.

for the link to the videos.

Have fun.

If you don't watch all, remember to at least watch Tribe Jia Lik's one.

before the worst.

A couple of months ago, me and a bunch of friends organized the 30 Hour Famine.

It was an experience to say the least. I can honestly tell you that the night before, I was so worried that the camp would fail. Thank God it didn't though. Not as successful as I would have liked it to be but it was alright. Organizing it taught me a lot though.

Anyway, something came in the mail for me today from World Vision.

30 Hour Famine 2008 Project Report.
A CD. Video of the famine countdown and pictures from all the camps held in Malaysia.

All together, WV managed to raise RM1,122,563.08. Which is quite impressive considering when we went to hand in our donation cards, they only managed to raise RM300k.

This has totally got me thinking about organizing another camp next year.

Hmm......wonder whether Taylor's will allow?(Yes that's where I intend to go for my A-levels).

Seeing as they didn't do one this year. Which I thought they would considering they're such a big college and all.

we must reach out.

Some famine pictures taken by Nat.

Our survival kits that seemed to have a million and one things in it(pillow, towel, toothbrush, mosquito patch, cap, mini torchlight, keychain etc.)

Not hungry people. Still happy.

Team H.U.F.T. Not even an hour into camp and they're already thinking about food.

Shelter built by Tribe JiaLik.

Campers watching some videos.

Most of our sponsors.

Nokia Siemens Network RM20k sponsorship mock cheque.

Still happy people a few hours into the famine.

Yu Kuan making a 'pancake' as part of the scavenger hunt.

They had to sort beans out too. In the evening where light was limited. *Cue evil laugh*

Whole row of people playing speed at night.

Sleeping time!! *It was freaking cold in the night*

After getting off the bus walking to the stadium.

Half of the crowd at Bukit Jalil. The other half was up in the shaded stands like us. Those people down there stayed there despite the scorching sun and later the pouring rain. Talk about being enthusiastic.

Sad hungry bored campers. Only a few more hours to go.

Break fast time. They're all stuffing themselves now.

Happy not hungry campers!!!

I'd definitely do it again next year if given the chance. It was an experience and I've learned a lot more organisational skills from it and it was nice to know that there are other people out there who care about people other than themselves.

Thanks to all those who attended, helped out or contributed money to us.
We managed to raise RM55,280.94.

Special thanks to the committee to getting the famine organised and running (Trixie, Nat, Melissa, PuiYi, Aleena and Andrew) and Aunty Vivienne for all her support and generous contribution.

frame my soul.

I'm so tired out from the 30-Hour Famine.

Not because I was hungry or anything but all the making sure the program got a move on. While I must say the camp did not go as well as I planned it to be cause of the stupid rain seeing as it's monsoon season. But I think everything went quite okay considering we had such limited time to plan this and we're all so inexperienced.

I wanna do the scavenger hunt too. And the groups were pretty creative in their group names and building of shelter.

Group we had are as follows:

H.U.F.T ~ Help Us Feed Them (Wan Ru)
Fooderz (Greg)
Whoopsie daisy (Ben)
Balls (Nikki)
A.H.P.U ~ All Hungry People Unite (Faiz)
Femine ~ They had an all girl group (Mae Yeen)
Tribe Jia Lik (Jia Lik)obviously
Spartrix ~ Spartans and Matrix (Wui Yang)

I would say the group leaders did a pretty good job. And while more than a hundred people told us they were coming for camp, only 70+ people turned up. For the past week, people kept telling us that they couldn't come due to 'last minute' plans.

And as for the Famine Countdown. VERY dissapointing. No offence but there were just TOO many chinese speaking people there. It's like WV expects every single person to understand Mandarin. For their 1st 'English' emcee, she kept speaking in Mandarin so many people from our camp were 'sesat'. And their volounteers can't speak English or understand it either. I mean, I don't have anything against Chinese speaking people but is it too hard to at least speak and understand basic English??

Anyway, I'm going to sleep now even though it's only 10 cause I'm just exhausted. Waking up early though to finish some work.

a song about trains.

This like the first time I'm using my Mac out of the house.

In Starbucks!!!

Haha. Suppose to be having an early discussion about the famine but so far it's only 3 of us (Trixie, Nat & I). Everyone else hasn't arrived yet cause they're all busy sleeping in.

Famine planning is coming along. Basically only a few minor details left to sort out. Can you imagine that half our holidays are gone? And it's only 1 day more to the famine.

*Everyone who's using a computer here uses a Mac. Haha.

son of the damned.

So for the famine, our total amount of donations raised is

RM53,280.94

Of course, RM20,000 is from the Nokia sponsorship but it means that we ourselves raise RM33,280.94 which is quite impressive.

Only 3 more days. So much to do.

And my holidays are non-existant. The crash course is eating up all my free time. But at least I don't have to study when I get back seeing as I've 'done' 6 hours worth of revision already.

qing tian.

Yesterday had Patriotic Run and Merdeka Carnival. Blue got first for it and also Super Champion House.

Merdeka Carnival wasn't really happening as many people spent their time in the sports complex waiting for their match to start. The whole highlight of the day was the 'Funtasia' show at 6. All classes excluding Form 3 & 5 were suppose to put up this 'Impersonation' skit where they impersonate a scene from a movie or show. All of them had already had their prelims on Wednesday so we only got to watch the finalists. Some were good, some were not so good. The Adams family one was quite good as they had managed to impersonate all the charcters pretty well. I like Pink Panther cause the main actor did a REALLY good impersonation of Steve Martin in the movie. The accent was hilarious!!!!

And of course the whole reason some of us went for the show was for the teacher's performance. They put up a short skit titled 'snoring beauty' and also a couple of dances. The skit was very funny. The teachers in our school are pretty good at all these performance things. Mr. Yow was a very good 'fairy godfather' alongside Mr. Hafiz and Mr. Lam. As for the dances, let's just say we'll never look at some of our teachers the same again. Mr. Naresh?(the P.E. teacher) was totally the most enthusiastic dancer and he wasn't half bad. And Mr. Sara looked like he was really enjoying himself.

Went for the crash course today. 2 hours of Physics, Chem and Bio for 5 days. Very beneficial. This totally helps me revise as I'm quite sure if I was left at home I wouldn't touch my books. Very few people went for it though. I guess a lot of people don't want it to eat into their holidays or think it's too expensive. Despite having to pay RM200 per subject I really think it's worth the money.

On another note, my mum and sisters have gone to Ipoh for a wedding. And not just any wedding, it's my GRANDFATHER'S wedding. My grandfather is freaking 78 years old and he's re-marrying. The woman is 65 years old. *deleted due to sensitive material*

As for the 30-Hour Famine,

Me and Trixie managed to put everyone into their groups today. Money is all settled. Donation cards all back except for Ru Dee's card (she's freaking in Australia!!!!). Going on Monday to get everything from WV and give them the cash. In total, we've raised a little over

RM33,000
(not sure about the exact amount as can't seem to find the piece of paper I wrote it on)

Quite pleased. Sleeping over at Trixie's so that we can sort out the activities and whatever else that need's discussing.

Looks like it's going to be a packed holiday for me with the crash course to attend and the famine to plan.

Please pray that everything goes well for the famine.

I can hear heaven.

Woohoo!!!!!!

Gues what??

I DIDN'T get picked for NS.

I swear, I've never been happier to see the words 'Harap Maaf' in my life. Thank you God.

For those who wanna check, SMS

NS(space)ICNo. to 33995

to double check, SMS

PLKN(space)SEMAK(space)IC NO. to 15888

Another thing, we've reached our goal for 30-Hour Famine. RM30k people!! With 10 more cards to collect and the committee's cards.

One more day to go. Biology. So much memory work.....

Monday, August 11, 2008

and now I wonder.

SPM 2008 timetable is out already!!!

My subjects are quite spread out over 3 weeks. Last paper is EST on November 27.

AND!!!!

NS namelist is out. Not the official one apparently. And I can't get into the website cause I'm sure the rest of Malaysia is trying to get into the same website. Please please please please please don't let my name be on it.

The official list be out on Thursday in the papers.
So Form 5's, you'd better hope you don't get picked.

30 Hour Famine. We're only RM700 short of our goal which is RM30k. And we still have 15 cards left to collect. Everything seems to be going well so far. But once trials are over it's full focus on famine planning.

*Those attending the famine please stay back on wednesday till 4.30p.m. for a briefing. Important documents will be given out so if you can't make it please inform any one of the committee members(Puiyi, Melissa, Trixie, Nat & I).

08.08.08

The first week of trials are over but this week was the easier week.

I'm totally not prepared to sit for my Add. Maths, Chem, Bio and Moral paper.

As for the 30 Hour Famine, we still have 31 cards to collect. A majority of it being teachers or the form 5's.

We have however, raised a little over RM25k so far which is quite good.

I was at Kayu yesterday with my mum and sisters and I made this observation. You see, we always sit at the same table which is near the payment counter and also the sink. And I realized that almost all the guys who wash their hands, spend like an entire minute looking at themselves in the mirror and doing their hair. The girls on the other hand, just wash their hands and walk away.

And you said girls were vain.

I guess it's just the modern times where guys care more about how they look than girls do. I mean, there's nothing wrong with wanting to look good but I swear guys these days take longer than girls to get ready.

Friday, July 25, 2008

who would have thought.

There's this dance group from Korea that cheorographs dances to go with Christian worship songs. Some are good, some are not so good. But it's quite cool to know that they're doing this all the way in Korea. Their called DMT. Not sure why though.

This is my favourite video of theirs. The first time I saw it I cried. And I didn't even know the lyrics as the song was in Korean.

And we only have 26 cards left to give out!!!

We've collected RM473 today from just 3 people. Looks like everything is going well.
Hope the camp will be a success too.

cause my heart dies.

30 Hour Famine!!!!

Finally got started. All those who want to register please come down to the canteen during break/lunch.

63 cards given out on the first day. Not bad considering we didn't really publicize it.

For more information, please click here.

On another note, look what we found on the road while walking back.

If your eyesight fails you, it's a picture of a bird that got rolled over.

After lunch, we walked back to my house and Amanda was like there's a flattened bird on the road. True enough it was there. Poor bird must have been injured or something and a car drove over it since it couldn't get away fast enough.

american boy.

All right then people, we've set up a Facebook account and blog for the 30 Hour Famine.

If I haven't already invited you, message me for an invite to the group.

Blog address is thirtyhourfamine.blogspot.com

Please pray that everything will go well from now on. Or at least there shouldn't be any major problems.

my head wants to expolde.

You know, yesterday the famine committee was so happy as we got an sms from Datin Vivienne that she has managed to get us a venue for our camp. We were going to start the publicity in our school today by going to each class and telling them how we're organizing this camp which is totally not in any way related to our school. So me, Trixie and Melissa go to see Ms. Harriet to ask for a notice board so that we can put up our poster. But she said we had better ask Mrs. Chan first.

So we were like okay. Went into Mrs. Chan's office to talk to her about it. At first when we said we wanted to publicize it she was like sure, go ahead. Then somewhere in the conversation, Trixie mentioned that we were getting help from Datin Vivienne and you could totally see the transformation in Mrs. Chans expression. Then later, I asked about the school buses as getting buses from our school might be cheaper than outside. Mrs. Chan asked how many buses we wanted and I said 4 cause we were aiming for 200 participants from our school. This was followed by Mrs. Chan asking whether we thought we were being too ambitious. Well anyway, to cut a long story short, Mrs. Chan said the reason she rejected our proposal in the first place was that she thought that only FIVE of us wanted to use to school and she thought it was ridicoulus. But I vividly remember her saying it's because she didn't want the school to be held responsible for any injuries. Why a sudden change in story??

Well of course it's ridicoulus!!!! We said in out proposal that this was for the studentS of the school and we wanted to raise a large amount of money. What's more our committee itself has 10 people. So where is the logic that she thought only FIVE of us wanted to use the school????? So now, she said she'd have to deliberate with Ms. Harriet as to how the school can best support us in this. Argh!!! You don't know how irritated I am!!! We freaking gave you the proposal for TWO weeks to look over and NOW you tell us you want to see the pros and cons of this camp? I swear it's just cause we said Datin Vivienne would help us.

According to the schdule we planned out, we we supposed to have started all the publicity and distribution of donation cards TWO weeks ago. The dateline is freaking 9 August, in the middle of our trials so we all want this to be done with at the end of July. But noooo, you just had to make our lives difficult.

P.S To any teacher who reads this (I know some do), don't get me wrong, I don't mean any harm but it is just so fustrating that ONE person should affect the planning of our camp so much. It's not like this is a camp for fun, it's for charity.

Friday, July 11, 2008

every other time.

Had a 30 Hour Famine meeting with most of the committee and Aunty Vivienne. You don't know how much of help it is to have an adult involved in this. With her help, we don't have to worry about venue, transport, sponsorship for water or cash sponsorship. Such a relief!!!

Now as long as we get a venue, we go all out already.

So to all KDU-ians who read my blog, spread the word that we'll be organizing a 30 Hour Famine in August. Dates are 23-24 August. No donation card distribution yet cause we wanna secure a venue first. But we're only opening to 100+ people so if you wanna join please do get the donation forms as soon as we decide to distribute them. I will post it up here the date as to when we'll be giving out the donation cards.

If you wanna know more about the 30 Hour Famine project done by World Vision,
please click here.

After the meeting, followed a bunch of them to Jasema to buy the stuff to make the 'banners' for some of the cheerleaders tomorrow. Went over to Melissa's place to do it. 8 banners to do. And within 2 hours, 6 of us (Aleena, Puiyi, Melissa, Nick, Andrew & I) managed to all 8 roughly but without any details. I went back at 6 cause had to get ready for ballet.

To all

Stunners Cheerleaders

Good Luck!!

(especially to the guys team as they just lost a flyer. one night before the competition.)

buisness plan.

So today was the final day of Career 'Week'. Was looking forward to the Advertising talk but due to unforseen circumstances, Yasmin Ahmad couldn't make it. Talk about a bunch of dissapointed students. So in the end I went for the 'Taking Chances' talk by Greg's dad. All I learnt is that Greg's dad's life is really interesting with 3 near death experienes and traveling across US and from London back to Malaysia on a Harley Davidson. Sounds so cool.....I also wanna try!!!

Food buisness was quite funny. Marketing was okay but the woman droned on and on for so long. And you know the funny thing is, that people like Greg's dad and the DELIcious guy who are doing so well now, either don't have a degree or a totally irrelevant degree to what their doing now. So during the Q & A sessions, you could see that the PTA had to ask questions so that the speakers would tell us how important education is. Quite funny actually.

Concerning the 30-Hour Famine. We finally got an answer from Mrs. Chan today. It's a NO. Cause apparently we are such a high profile school with high profile parents who will sue the school if anything happens to their precious darling children during the 30 hours without food. I mean to a certain extent I can see what she's gettin at but if we make eveyone sign the consent form I don't see a problem. After all, it's not like we're going to force people to not eat. It's their choice and their parents choice on whether anot they'll be allowed to go. We have given everything to Ms. Harriet and she'll be reviewing it. So I hope she'll say yes tomorrow. After all, does she think we have the luxury of time? We'll totally be behind schedule if we don't get an answer tomorrow.

We have thought of 2 back-up plans. One is that we just do 8 hours in school if Mrs. Chan will let. Get the students to do the activities and what not and then go home later so at least we won't need to stay over at school. Sounds like a good idea but the students might find it quite troublesome to come and go. They'll also have to find their own transport to Bukit Jalil for the countdown if we can't get buses.

The other plan is to do it at another venue. Problem here is the rental fee and whether anot other places will allow us to stay over at the place. What's more I don't know how it'll be if the girls and guys will be allowed to sleep in the same room.

Argh!!!! Mrs. Chan!!!! If you had only said yes we wouldn't have this problem!!!!!

Monday, June 30, 2008

parallel lines.

Don't you just hate it when you have to go through lots of trouble to make up for another person's mistake?

You see, all SPM candidates have to do this thing called PEKA for SPM and must do well in order to get an A in the subject. The problem is that the 'pentaksir' person is coming tomorrow to check up on our PEKA files, and when do we start doing it?

Today. One freaking day before the person comes you expect us to finish a draft and report for 2 experiments? May not seem like a lot but it is quite tiresome to finish. Reason that we're only doing it now is that apparently our previous teacher told the current teacher that the pentaksir only comes in August. I do not see that as a valid reason!! If other teachers had already made us finish by May I don't see why you have to make us do such last minute work!!

Anyway, ust submitted the proposal for the 30-Hour Famine today. Hopefully Mrs. Chan will approve it by tomorrow so that we can get down to sorting out the details.

"Career Week" starts tomorrow with a short talk on Education Overseas. Hopefully will actually learn something useful.

Sometimes I just wanna walk into a fantasy.

through the night.

Every 2 years or so, my school organises this Career Week thing for the Form 4 and 5's. When I was in Form 3 I remember that they had a wide array of professionals who quite famous in their fields. So naturally, I held high hopes for this years Career Week. Cause the last time they had Melinda Looi the designer and Harith Iskandar the comedian.

What's more, the last Career Week really was an entire week from Monday to Friday. And there talks throughout the entire day if I'm not mistaken. Wanna hear about next week's Career Week? It's only three days from Tuesday to Thursday. Not even the entire day. Barely 2 hours a day. The reason for such short sessions are that this time, we have to pick which talks we want to attend. Where is the logic in this?? The whole point of Career Week is to expose the students to various career choices so that they have a better understanding of different careers. Instead, our of 6 talks, we'll only get to pick one. I mean, what if I'm interested in H&T, accounting and journalism but they all fall at the same time?? Am I suppose to just blindly pick one? Also, some of the speakers and just lecturers from KDU college. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against them but wouldn't it be better to get someone who is actually in the field so that we know what the real world is like instead of getting a bunch of people who are probably just going to tell us the curriculum at college??

The time management is also horrible. 1 hour for 4 different people to talk?? Not possible. How can 4 people give 4 talks on education in Canada, New Zealand, UK and some other place. By the time everyone settles down it'll be 15 minutes past. And only half an hour for the various career talks? In my opinion, very bad planning this year.

Anyway I've picked to attend the journalism, advertising, food buisness and marketing talks. Hopefully I'll actually learn something.

Have to convince Mrs. Chan on Monday to allow us to have the 30 hour famine. Apparently she told Mr. Zac it's the same as the Skip-A-Meal thing we had last year. Half an hour and 30 hours are so different. Hopefully she'll say yes.
