swear your love's for me.

I admit I am a tad cynical when it comes to love.

That even in fairy tales, there is gore. And no, I do not refer to the Disney 'and they lived happily ever after' type of story. I'm talking about the original fairy tales. Where in Cinderella her evil stepmother cut of Cinderella's stepsisters' toe or heel in an attempt to get their feet to fit into the shoe that the prince had. And where in the end they get their eyes pecked out by pigeons.

Another example. Snow White. The evil queen ate the lung and liver which she believed to have belonged to Snow White. But actually it was the lung and liver of a bear whom the hunter had killed as he spared Snow White's life. Guess what? You know how in the Disney version Snow White comes alive after the prince kisses her? Well, the original version has the seven dwarfs tripping over a tree root as they're carrying the coffin. And this slight blunder causes the apple piece to dislodge itself from Snow White's throat. The evil queen ends up having to wear a pair of iron shoes that had been freshly removed from the fire and dance till she dies.

Last one. I promise. In little mermaid, around the dwelling of the witch(Ursula), is the skeletons of all the humans who've died from shipwrecks, there's even the copse of a mermaid who got caught by the polypi. And the little mermaid gave her voice away by having her tongue cut off by the witch. In the end, the little mermaid dies because the stupid prince marries someone else.

Haha. So now you know what fairy tales are really like.

Yet, despite all the cynical thoughts I might have. I am a true romantic at heart.
