parallel lines.

Don't you just hate it when you have to go through lots of trouble to make up for another person's mistake?

You see, all SPM candidates have to do this thing called PEKA for SPM and must do well in order to get an A in the subject. The problem is that the 'pentaksir' person is coming tomorrow to check up on our PEKA files, and when do we start doing it?

Today. One freaking day before the person comes you expect us to finish a draft and report for 2 experiments? May not seem like a lot but it is quite tiresome to finish. Reason that we're only doing it now is that apparently our previous teacher told the current teacher that the pentaksir only comes in August. I do not see that as a valid reason!! If other teachers had already made us finish by May I don't see why you have to make us do such last minute work!!

Anyway, ust submitted the proposal for the 30-Hour Famine today. Hopefully Mrs. Chan will approve it by tomorrow so that we can get down to sorting out the details.

"Career Week" starts tomorrow with a short talk on Education Overseas. Hopefully will actually learn something useful.

Sometimes I just wanna walk into a fantasy.

singing in the rain.

One of my all time favourite movie is Center Stage. Not because of a stellar cast or wonderful acting but for the dance. I mean, how often do you find a good dance movie about ballet?

The entire movie centers around a group of kids who attend the American Ballet Academy and are trying to get into the company. The storyline and characters are a bit cliched but the dancing is amazing. Most of the main cast are actually ballet dancers in real life who are very good. Anyway, they're coming up with a sequel this year and I was hoping that it would center around ballet too.

Unfortunately, the storyline they're using is WAY overused. It's about some girl who is a ballet dancer but secretly likes hip-hop too. Sound familiar? Save the last dance and step up are just some examples. But I hope that there will be more ballet than hip-hop.

Also, did I mention that I absolutely love Center Stage's finale dance? The pointe shoes the main actress wears are so AWESOME!! If I could, I'd get red pointe shoes too.

through the night.

Every 2 years or so, my school organises this Career Week thing for the Form 4 and 5's. When I was in Form 3 I remember that they had a wide array of professionals who quite famous in their fields. So naturally, I held high hopes for this years Career Week. Cause the last time they had Melinda Looi the designer and Harith Iskandar the comedian.

What's more, the last Career Week really was an entire week from Monday to Friday. And there talks throughout the entire day if I'm not mistaken. Wanna hear about next week's Career Week? It's only three days from Tuesday to Thursday. Not even the entire day. Barely 2 hours a day. The reason for such short sessions are that this time, we have to pick which talks we want to attend. Where is the logic in this?? The whole point of Career Week is to expose the students to various career choices so that they have a better understanding of different careers. Instead, our of 6 talks, we'll only get to pick one. I mean, what if I'm interested in H&T, accounting and journalism but they all fall at the same time?? Am I suppose to just blindly pick one? Also, some of the speakers and just lecturers from KDU college. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against them but wouldn't it be better to get someone who is actually in the field so that we know what the real world is like instead of getting a bunch of people who are probably just going to tell us the curriculum at college??

The time management is also horrible. 1 hour for 4 different people to talk?? Not possible. How can 4 people give 4 talks on education in Canada, New Zealand, UK and some other place. By the time everyone settles down it'll be 15 minutes past. And only half an hour for the various career talks? In my opinion, very bad planning this year.

Anyway I've picked to attend the journalism, advertising, food buisness and marketing talks. Hopefully I'll actually learn something.

Have to convince Mrs. Chan on Monday to allow us to have the 30 hour famine. Apparently she told Mr. Zac it's the same as the Skip-A-Meal thing we had last year. Half an hour and 30 hours are so different. Hopefully she'll say yes.

drink up baby.

It was a busy weekend.

Had ballet concert on Saturday. Woke up early seeing as had rehearsals at 9. I totally prefer KL Pac compared to Security Commisions. Backstage is so much nicer. Rest of the day was spent in the car with my mum taking my sisters to and back form their rehearsals as all three of us had different times. Got back home around 4 and took a shower and went to do hair. Left soon after that and reached KL Pac around 6.45. Spent sometime changing into costume as I couldn't very well wear a tutu into the car. Did makeup then put on my pointe shoes as had to warm up. In a short time it was our item. 'Thriller' by Michael Jackson. Can you imagine doing ballet on pointe for that song?? My toes were dying at the end of it. After that changed costume and hairstyle for the next dance. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen. Basically that was our finale dance.

Every year Ms. Leong includes a small audience participation thing in between the show. Usually the audience has to stand up and do a dance. I remember one year where a father came on stage and had to do the 5 positions for ballet. Damn funny!! Anyway, this year's one was SUPER funny. She made them do the YMCA and Soulja Boy. I swear when I was watching from backstage, everyone looked hilarious doing the dance. Some of us backstage did the dance too. Overall, this year's concert was one of the most fun ones.

Pictures up some other time.

Sunday woke up early as usual for church. After that went to Mid Valley for breakfast and then I met up with Amanda as it was her birthday. Bought tickets for 'Made of Honour'. Then Jia Lik came and we lepaked around till Trixie came and then we went for lunch. Went to 'Sushi Zanmai'. Not as good as I thought it should be. Definitely ranked below Sushi Groove and Sakae Sushi. Movie was at 3. The movie was not bad. Trixie rated it the best romantic movie this year so far but I definitely prefered 27 dresses.

Jia Lik, Trixie & I got Amanda a necklace and matching earrings which were pink and sparkly. That was the actual present. Why I say actual? Cause a few of us actaully shared another present which we only gave to her today.

You should have seen her face cause she didn't want to open it. Placed it in the Pet's Wonderland plastice bag so she was so afraid we got her a frog seeing as frogs are her bigget fear. In the end when she opened it, it was something not alive. A collar. A dog collar to be exact. Hahahahahaha. Those in my class should know why.

not another minute.

5Mozart's All Girl Band.
L-R: Anne(singer), Amanda(guitarist), Jia Lik(drummer), Ch'n Wen(singer), Me(keyboardist), Trixie(bassist)

Our band performance. May not be the best but hey, not bad for a bunch of inexperienced people who don't know what they're doing and only practiced together once.

jaws dropping everywhere.

Yesterday we had the Paramount Championship for upper secondary. For those not in KDU, this is kinda like a interclass competition. The variety is very wide with stuff like culinary, debate, skit, singing, speech, band and dance.

Basically we had our preliminary rounds earlier this year and yesterday was the finals. Our class was lazy this year so joined very few events compared to last year. This year's finals was supposed to be more 'bergaya' cause we had an opening number where the solo singing finalists joined all their songs together. Then before intermission there was a dance performance. Also, we had external judges come in. Unfortunately, there were like 8 female judges and 2 male judges. May not sound like a big deal but this is something significant.

Everything went pretty well despite the fact that the emcee's weren't as good as they should be. For modern dance, 5A did really well. Their dance was very amusing. They had 3 blind mice and the chicken dance in it. Quite entertaining to watch. Singing events were okay, most people could roughly guess the results so no surprises there. Just before intermission, 5E did their winning skit. It was HILARIOUS. If I find a video of it I'll upload it for every to watch. Cause it's seriously funny. I've watched it four times already and I still laugh at it.

Band was after intermission so we band members were super nervous. Second band to go up. Played the song. Which I think we did pretty okay. I mean, we sounded not bad. Amanda even did her movements and Ch'n Wen & Anne did their movements also. Out of all the bands, I think only our singers had some dance-ish moves planned out. So when the results came out, we were to say the least dissapointed. I can honestly say we weren't that great but we definitely did not deserve the placing we got. Last if you must know. As Tricia later pointed out, she thinks that the judges were biased towards guys. And if you see the band events, the more girls a band had, the lower their ranking. We had 6 girls and got last. 5A had 2 girls and got 5th. 4G had 1 girl and got fourth. So the top three were all guy bands. To a certain extent this is all a coincidence but still don't think we deserved to be ranked as the worse. At least let us tie with another band. Not being sour grapes or anything here.

Kinda proud of the band as this is the first time we've ever been in a band. Much less the only all girl band in the history of Sri KDU. With a guitarist and bassist who don't really know what they're doing and a not very experienced drummer I think we did pretty well and had enough guts to do it in front of the whole school. Will post the video up so that you can be the judge of it.

Today was the lower sec's turn. They didn't have external judges and had 4 male judges and 3 female judges. I think the points were given out quite fairly. But there was at least two incidences where you could see a little unfairness in how some of the participants were treated. Something happened in duet singing and also mandarin solo singing.

Oohhh....forgot to mention an incident yesterday. For solo instrument piano, there was a contestant who did a difficult song technically. The song had absolutely no expression whatsoever. Halfway through the song the contestant stops. Not cause there was a mistake or anything. But the contestant stopped to BLINDFOLD himself/herself. Mistakes ensued and many students thought that the contestant so such a showoff. So you can obviously tell that this did not go well the judges and the marks were less than satisfying. Just so you know, the person's not from my class.

So for yesterday, my class managed to nab a bronze in group singing, english solo singing, duet singing and gold in solo instrument piano. So only BM solo singing and band didn't get anything.

Ballet concert in 2 days time!!!

reverse psychology.

Yesterday went over to Jia's place to practice for band. Seeing as how Paramount Finals are on Wednesday and we've never actually had a proper practice before we were all quite detemined to practice as much as possible in order not to embarrass ourselves on stage. What's more we're an all girl band so that means we're not really experienced.

Jia Lik picked me up around 12.45 with Nat & Jessie in the car. Ate lunch first then only went over to her place. So we waited for everyone else to show up. The group singing people came also as our singers are also in group singing so both of us could practice at the same time. When we played for the first time, we sounded really really really really really bad. That was around 3 o' clock I think. This was followed by a couple of hours of 'You're out of tempo!' 'You're playing the wrong chord!' 'That's the wrong note!' 'Not loud enough!', we sounded much better than we did at 3. Ate dinner at 8 and then went back to practicing till 9.30. Then all the other group singing people went back as the band people were sleeping over so that we could practice the next day also. Seeing as it was late we stopped practicing and proceeded to play cards and then watch a movie. "Fool's Gold". Wasn't that great a movie.

Woke this morning and after eating breakfast practiced some more. I am happy to say that after all the practicing, we have made a TREMENDOUS improvement from the day before. In fact, we sound pretty decent. Hopefully we sound fine at tomorrow's rehearsal and on the actual day itself.

candy mountain.

I'm sure everyone knows the song Crank Dat by Soulja Boy. But do you know the actual meaning of the song??

Here are the lyrics.

Soulja Boy Off In This Hoe
Watch me Crank It
Watch me Roll
Watch me Crank Dat Soulja Boy
Then Super Man Dat Hoe

I bet most of you thought that at the end he was singing Ohhhhhhh or something like that. But as you can see the song actually says hoe. Which most people would know the meaning of. If you don't, just think of it as a VERY downgrading term for a woman.

And haven't you ever wondered about the Superman part. I mean, I highly doubt he's talking about Clark Kent with super powers.

The next part is only for the more mature. If you think you're still oh so innocent and do not want your mind tainted by 'dirty' thoughts then please don't scroll down. For the others, I swear I'm not making this up. You can check the urban dictionary if you want.

Scroll down for Superman meaning.

Superman:

When you are mad at your girl for not having sex with you. So when she falls asleep you masturbate and cum on her back. After that, stick the bedsheet on to her back and when she wakes up it's stuck to the cum and she has a cape like Superman!!!

my pulse is flatlined.

Okay, basically if you see me with a huge ass bruise on my thigh, left arm and bits of skin peeled off on both my arms, I'm sure you'd pretty much be able to sum up the fact that either I'm super clumsy or I got into a fight. The answer is the latter. Most of the time I try to keep my cool in all situations and try to be the peacemaker. But I'm sure we all have our bitchy moments. And on Saturday I totally lost my cool.

The basic reason is that Weng Yan took the Roxy Summer Splash tickets and wouldn't give them to me. Reason being that since she can't go. Neither can I. So obviously I got freaking pissed at her since she took the tickets and hid them. And it's not like it was one ticket, I was going with a bunch of people and all their tickets were with me. So that's why the fight happened. Ultimately my mum intervened and made her give me the tickets.

Also, Weng Yan was pissed at me to begin with. Now that I think back to why she was angry at me I can't help but laugh as the reason is SO petty and stupid. You see, on Friday night she was watching Gossip Girl on my laptop. So around 1 I come into the room and tell her to switch the com off as I wanna sleep already. Logical right? But she threw a tantrum as she said that she only had one more episode to watch. And it wasn't like I wouldn't let her watch anymore. I totally told her that she could continue watching the next day. But noooooo she just had to be 'Miss the whole entire world should revolve around me'.

Now if you wanna know why she couldn't go for the Summer Splash is that she's grounded. Why? Cause she sneaked out on a date with a guy. Most of you should know who he is. My dad caught the two of them coming out of the cinema together and got really really really really mad. It's not so much the dating thing but rather she lied about who she was going out with. Her phone got confiscated too. So basically this is the event which has put her in a foul mood the entire freaking week.

What's more you know what she told my mum?? That I'm an alcoholic. Hahahahahahahahaha. She said that's the reason I'm so moody. Any person in my household can tell you that she's definitely more moody that me. So my mum now knows what happens at all the parties I go to and is pretty sceptical about ever letting me sleepover. Puh-lease, I totally know my limits so nothing ever happens with me at these parties.

On another note, Summer Splash wasn't as eventful as I though it'd be. Roxy totally gave the tickets away too easily so there were like a MILLION people there.

School starts tomorrow. Someone stop time please.

miss invisible.

So yesterday was supposed to be a Galileo reunion thing. But seeing as Nabil is such a bad planner, only a handful of us turned up. 7 to be exact. Went to Pavilion quite late as dad had to pick car up from the workshop. Met up with the rest at the cinema then went down to Carl's Jr. to eat. Didn't order a burger but I had their AWESOME Beef Chili Cheese fries. Seriously, you should try it. I love these more than I love Mcd's fries. So we sat, ate and talked for quite a while as the movie only started at 4. Talked about a couple of funny memories from when we were in lower sec.

The movie we watched was Superhero movie. Which is a sort of parody of Spiderman. It was short but funny. Thank goodness it wasn't as stupid as Epic movie or Meet the Spartans. After that didn't do much but walk around and window shop for a while before getting back.

Can't believe the holidays are almost over. Seems like the holidays went by so quickly.

Everything is coming closer. Ballet concert is only a few weeks away. Thriller and Bohemian Rhapsody!!! This is has a nice choice of songs as we're using famous songs from yesteryear. Theme this year is also a tad different. Using Calvin & Hobbes. SPM is less than half a year away. That means, in 6 months time, we'll all be in college. Talk about feeling old.

it was perfect.

A couple of days ago got told by Jessie some news. Apparently Mcdonald's is in full support National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). And that every time you buy Mcd's, you're contributing to NGLCC. Don't get me wrong, I don't hold anything against people who aren't quite straight. To a certain extent I think it's wrong to be gay but if that is a person's true nature who are we to change it? But did my favourite fast food joint have to actively promote it??

There have been a lot of arguments as to whether it's okay to be gay as some parts of the Bible condemn it. Not really sure where I stand on this issue. Ultimately, it's God who will punish people so why are we trying to take God's place now by excluding the gays & lesbians from the church?

Some articles on the issue.
