trade.

You can lead a horse to the water, but you can't make it drink.

Instead, by trying to make it drink you'd probably just make it drown.

Do you think people who succeed in their careers do so because they like what they're doing or because their parents think it's the most 'suitable' one for them?

retreat.

You know why those who go overseas at an earlier age usually do better in their studies?

No, it's not because they've learned to mature and take responsibility. It's mainly cause their parents aren't there.

How is that possible you ask? After all, most need parents to give them the push to actually study.

Read on and you'll understand.

How many of you have been forced to go out with your family before an exam. Despite you telling your parents that you want to stay at home to study, they tell you that you should take a break cause studying all the time isn't good. For most of us I'd believe, we get these moods where we're really gung ho about studying and parents interrupting is the one thing that can cause you to lose the studying drive.

On the other hand, you're done with studying and want to go out and have a nice dinner with your friends. What do your parents say about this? "Don't waste time, you should be studying". The irony is that if you hadn't gone out with your friends, your parents would have made you go out for dinner with the family. So ultimately your time is spent on something you didn't really want to just because your parents think that friends are not as important as family.

Just my opinion.

Certain flaws are necessary for the whole.
It would seem strange if old friends lacked certain quirks.

blink.

Some theories as to how we are attracted to those of the opposite/same(for some) gender for romantic purposes.

1. Evolutionary view.
Select mates who will enhance the survival of the species. Which basically means men pick the classically beautiful women who show signs that they are in their youth and good health. Women pick the alpha males cause they can dominate and bring home extra 'kill'.

2. Social exchange theory.
We select mates who are more or less our equals. Translates to us sizing the person up and then if their numbers are roughly equivalent, we pick them. This theory has it's roots in economic theory, sort of like a cost-benefit analysis.

3. "Persona" theory.
An important factor in mate selection is the way a potential suitor enhances our self-esteem. So this says that we pick the person who will best enhance our 'persona' that the world sees.

Interesting how no 'soulmate' theory is here eh?

Haha.

Which theory do you believe in the most??

All of us have insecurities.

But as we grow older, we become more sure of ourselves that after some time we even forget why we felt insecure in the first place.

Yet you know there will always be those moments that remind you just how you felt those many years ago.

And you know what?

I hate those moments.

peace.

Last week I found out that I have dissociative identity disorder, which means I have multiple personalities.

I told my girlfriend, she smiled at me and I was confused. She told me that she already knew and that she loved ALL of me.

She is my hope.

Don't tell me that didn't make you go awwww. =)

neg.

After today's trip, I've never been more glad that I was born early and therefore became a 1991 kid instead of 1992.

Today was really fun. Melaka trip with Marcia and Caroline. Okay fine, it was actually with the Psych '10 class too cause they had went to the zoo and stuff so that they can do a presentation.

Haha. Some of the highlights.

1. Butterfly that stayed like forever on Marcia's shirt.

2. It raining when we wanted to go Jonker Street and thus we had to be 'creative' =P.

3. Chendol!!!

4. Just the fact that I got to spend time with those two =). I swear it's always us three together. Lunch together, movie together, now trip also together.

tautology.

Did you know that there is philosophy in Popeye?

Yes that Popeye with the stick thin girlfriend called Olive.

Popeye always says "I yam what I yam, and that's all what I yam" right?

In philosophy, this saying is in accordance with the Law of Identity which states that whatever is, is. Google it if you wanna know more. It took me sometime to read through and understand but it is quite interesting.

Also read about

Law of Noncontradiction: Nothing can both be and not be

and

Law of Excluded Middle: Everything must either be or not be

if you found the Law of Identity interesting cause these three laws are known as the classic Laws of Thought by Aristotle.

restless.

Decided to share my top 3 favourite movies. Mind you, they're my favourite movies but they may not be the best movies I've watched.

These are the three movies that I don't mind watching again and again. In fact, I think I've watched Center Stage more than 5 times.

As to why they're my favourite movies, well, I guess you'll have to watch them and find a connection =).

1. Center Stage.

2. Dead Poet's Society.

3. I Not Stupid Too.

boing.

Remember this -

Should you ever despair of life so much that you want to die, you have the means at hand and yearn to end your life, you have written a suicide note to those you will leave behind and you are prepared to die… at that moment, stop.

Get a pair of scissors. Cut away at the note until you end up with a piece of paper in the shape of a key. Go to a door, any one will do. Push the paper key forward and turn your hand as if unlocking an imaginary lock.

The lock is real. Open the door. There you will find it. The other earth. The one that awaits to replace this one when it dies. That death is inevitable, but in the meantime the other earth will belong to you.

Be warned: the other earth is very different from this one.

run.

I swear the Japanese come up with some of the most twisted plots ever.

Yesterday, I watched the movie Battle Royale. Maybe not all of you would want to watch it if you hear the summary, but I do recommend it. I'm not one for action movies, so I'd say for the movie to capture my attention for 2 whole hours, it must be pretty good.

The basic plot of the movie is that one class of students are placed onto a deserted island where they must fight for their lives as ultimately, only one of them can be left standing.

So, I wonder, what would you do?

Would you just resign yourself to be killed by the others? Fight only those who try to kill you? Try to win by killing everyone else? Or decide not to play the game and kill yourself first?

It's interesting how the movie managed to show the different reactions people have to such a situation.

common.

You know how in a lot of dramas the main character will get into an accident and then lose their memory??

It's either they only remember the most important things in their lives or they forget all the most painful memories.

I'm quite curious as to what I would remember or forget. Hmmm. Too bad I'd actually have to get into an accident to find out.

oil.

As a kid, didn't you feel that adults kept making you confused?

Or maybe it was just me.

But when results come back and let's say I got 94(a pretty good mark), my parents would always ask me who got the highest in class. And then instead of telling me that 94 is good, they'd say I should have worked harder to score the highest mark in class. After all, we should always attempt to better ourselves.

Yet when it comes to buying things, they'd always say that I should think of the poor children in the world who can't afford as many nice things as me.

How is that confusing you ask??

Well, excuse me but as a kid, am I suppose to be comparing myself to those better than me or worse than me??? No such thing as the best of both worlds okay.

Hmm. Now that it's all typed out it seems kinda silly. Ah well.
