cluster.

The past week has probably been the most eventful week I've had for a long time.

Went for my first open mic night. The Bee @ Jaya One.

Some acts were better than others of course but overall it was a fun night. Bumped into a couple of people I have seen in a long time too. Goes to show how small the world is. Cause it's not like it was a huge event, mainly for IACT students so was surprised to see anyone I knew at all.

Then Friday went to a salsa club. Paradise @ Lodge Paradize Hotel.

Yes you read that right. I went to a club where everyone on the dance floor salsas. I was soooo tired by the end of it though. Definitely did more dancing there in comparison to class. Didn't embarrass myself too much I think. But everyone there is more experienced. Like they've been learning for at LEAST a year. Whereas I've barely been learning for three months.

And on Saturday, it was Oktoberfest @ 1U.

One Card holders get a free bottle of beer. And not like it was local beer, it was a not so small bottle of German beer. Didn't do much other than eat or drink.

So yes. It's been a week of firsts.

pass.

Just a little speech that you should read if you're free.

Okay, it's not so little.

Speech by Adrian Tan at the NTU convocation ceremony 2008. He's a Singaporean author. Wrote a book called "The Teenage Textbook" which I intend to buy when I next go to a bookshop.

epigram.

I think if was ever given the chance to meet an author(whether dead or alive),

it'd have to be Oscar Wilde.

My favourite quote has always been from him.

"I can resist everything except temptation."

And now after reading "The Picture of Dorian Gray", I'd have to say I agree with a lot of ideas put forth in the book.

"Nowadays most people die of a sort of creeping sort of common sense, and discover when it's too late that the only thing that one never regrets are one's mistakes."

~Lord Henry Wotton (The Picture of Dorian Gray)

purity.

This is ANNOYING the hell out of me.

There's this movie that I want to know the title of. So if anyone can tell me that, I will be FOREVER grateful. Seriously.

It's about this boy who uses a time machine to look for his father in the future. When he does get to the future he finds out that humans have evolved into two entirely different species. One type live above ground where they're always carefree and happy and have telekinetic powers(which they use to start a food fight =P). The other type live underground and only come up at night.

The ones above ground have to sacrifice some of themselves every month to those underground in exchange for food and clothes. Turns out the underground people use them as power sources. Boy finds his father trapped underground and manages to save him. Oh, and the boy sort of falls in love with an above ground girl.

That's about it. Should be enough to trigger off your memory if you've watched it.

The reason I suddenly thought of this is I'm reading H.G Well's The Time Machine. And it seems that this cartoon movie is directly inspired by the book. In my opinion at least.

oracle.

I am soooo addicted to this song.

Keep drinking coffee, stare me down across the table
While I look outside
So many things I’d say if only I were able
But I just keep quiet and count the cars that pass by

You’ve got opinions, man
We’re all entitled to ‘em, but I never asked

So let me thank you for your time, and try not to waste anymore of mine
And get out of here fast

I hate to break it to you babe, but I’m not drowning
There’s no one here to save

Who cares if you disagree?
You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be?
Who died and made you king of anything?

You sound so innocent, all full of good intent
Swear you know best
But you expect me to jump up on board with you
And ride off into your delusional sunset

I’m not the one who’s lost with no direction
But you’ll never see

You’re so busy making maps with my name on them in all caps
You got the talking down, just not the listening

And who cares if you disagree?
You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be?
Who died and made you king of anything?

All my life I’ve tried to make everybody happy
While I just hurt and hide
Waiting for someone to tell me it’s my turn to decide

Who cares if you disagree?
You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be?
Who died and made you king of anything?

Who cares if you disagree?
You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be?
Who died and made you king of anything?

Let me hold your crown, babe.
