superheroes.

Just watched this last night and I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would.

Who knew watching an animated film about 'imaginary characters' would be so entertaining?

One thing that was important in the film was the concept of believing. Believing and having faith that somewhere out there were characters who would bring joy and wonder to all the little children in the world. That to children it was what keeps them childlike.

And that left me wondering, when do we grow up?

When is it that we realise that the world isn't all about sweet dreams and presents and fun? When do we give up on our dreams in pursuit of more 'practical' paths?

I am pretty sure that there are little to no children out there who when asked "What do you wanna be when you grow up?" will answer with investment banker or accountant. These are jobs that have been created over time because someone decided that it'd be a great way to overcharge people for services that they could carry out themselves.

When I was a kid, I used to have this book called "I want to be the President" I think. At one point in my life I would actually say that I wanted to grow up to be the President. Then as I grew up I thought it was impossible cause I wasn't American and also cause I was a girl. For some reason there was just this stigma that women couldn't be in roles of leadership cause it was meant to be the man's job.

While I'm pretty certain I wouldn't actually have wanted to be the President when I grew older, that is an example of how dreams of a child can be crushed so easily due to society's 'rules'. 'Rules' that say money is more important than being happy, that your reputation is more important than being honest to yourself.

boing.

Having lived right opposite the playground when I was younger, I did spend a great deal of time there every evening.

One thing I liked and disliked about it were the see-saw's. The problem was that you always needed someone to go with you. So what happens if there are an odd number of kids in the playground that day? Well, either you don't go on the see-saw at all or you had to take turns. Hmph. And even if there was someone to go with you, you had to make sure they weren't too heavy or too light. Otherwise the see-saw wouldn't work out as well.

Once on the see-saw, I loved the going up part. I mean, who doesn't. It was the dreaded coming down part that I disliked, the thump when I would hit the tyre was painful. But then before you knew it, the pain was gone and you'd be on your way up again while the other person would be suffering.

Why am I talking about this? A bit random right? Talking about see-saws.

Well I was thinking how relationships are like see-saws. Yes perhaps not the most original thought but I still wanted to get it out nonetheless.

After all, in relationships, you'd need to find that one person who would just rightly balance you out. That when you've hit the low points in life will be able to bring you back up and vice versa.

no matter.

I think sometimes there are just some childhood fears that you will never be able to shake off.

Like how at night I avoid looking into mirrors or out of windows when I'm alone. Just in case I see something other than my own reflection looking back at me =S.

Or how if I watch TV at like 3 in the morning I make sure I sit on the couch against the wall. You'd never know if there's something hiding behind okay.

Despite knowing that these fears seem kinda silly, it's just something I can't get rid off.

The reality of Pokemon =P.

I mean, honestly, how can all the pokemon be made to fight so much and yet the world remain such a fine and dandy place. Except for the 'evil' Team Rocket.

relic.

If a child lives with criticism,
he learns to condemn.

If a child lives with hostility,
he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule,
he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance,
he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
he learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
He learns to find love
in the world.

oil.

As a kid, didn't you feel that adults kept making you confused?

Or maybe it was just me.

But when results come back and let's say I got 94(a pretty good mark), my parents would always ask me who got the highest in class. And then instead of telling me that 94 is good, they'd say I should have worked harder to score the highest mark in class. After all, we should always attempt to better ourselves.

Yet when it comes to buying things, they'd always say that I should think of the poor children in the world who can't afford as many nice things as me.

How is that confusing you ask??

Well, excuse me but as a kid, am I suppose to be comparing myself to those better than me or worse than me??? No such thing as the best of both worlds okay.

Hmm. Now that it's all typed out it seems kinda silly. Ah well.

wishful thinking.

Was talking about cartoons that we used to watch when we were younger.

We=Jia Lik, Amanda, Adelyne, Ian and Me

Some of my favourite ones.
AAAHH!! Real Monsters.

Little Lulu.

Hey! Arnold. (Hey! Football head!! Haha)

Mummies Alive.

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiago?
(Didn't watch this one very much but I loved the computer games!!! My favourite villain when I was younger.)

And then there were the game shows on Nicklelodeon.

Figure it out.

Legends of the hidden temple. (My fav team were the Silver Snakes)
I remeber I was quite scared of the tree part where you put your hand in to look for something and if you're unlucky, a temple guard would be the tree and grab you. And there was the shrine of the silver monkey. Some teams were quite dumb and couldn't put the monkey back together.

Double dare.
Love the sundae part.

And then there were the cartoons I didn't like.

Ren & Stimpy, Catdog(where does their s*** go??), Rocko's modern life, Cow & Chicken(though I did like 'I Am Weasel'), Rugrats.

They just don't make cartoons like they used to.

P.S The teams for Legends of the hidden temple are Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, Orange Iguanas, Purple Parrots and Silver Snakes.
Just in case you couldn't remember.
